At the Heart of Provence

Twenty minutes from Aix-en-Provence, thirty from Marseille, ninety from the Alps of Haute-Provence, and just a few minutes from the most beautiful villages of the Luberon — it would be difficult to find a better base from which to compose your own Provençal programme.

Sea or mountains. Culture or gastronomy. Long walks or longer lunches. The region offers all of it, and Coeur de Val Jo puts you at the centre of everything — without ever feeling like you are in the middle of anything.

Ansouis

Just 4km from Coeur de Val Jo, Ansouis is one of those villages that stops you in your tracks. A medieval château crowns the hilltop, while the narrow streets below are home to Provençal santon makers and local artists whose work you will not find in any tourist shop.

Unhurried, authentic, and largely undiscovered — it is our favourite village in the Luberon, and likely to become yours.

Cucuron

Six kilometres from Coeur de Val Jo, Cucuron is an exceptional village built around one of the most beautiful village squares in Provence — shaded by ancient plane trees and reflected in a large ornamental pond that seems to exist solely for the pleasure of looking at it.

The village is home to La Petite Maison, a Michelin-starred restaurant so charming and unpretentious that it feels like a well-kept secret — though not for much longer. Book ahead.

Lourmarin

Ten minutes away, Lourmarin is officially one of the most beautiful villages in France — and it knows it, in the best possible way. Boutiques, restaurants, art galleries and a Friday morning market that ranks among the finest in the region make it an essential stop.

Think of it as the St Tropez of the Luberon — the glamour, the energy, the excellent rosé — but with considerably better parking.
