Coeur de Val Jo is the first and second floors of an 18th-century Provençal bastide, set within the grounds of Château Val Joanis — one of the finest wine estates in the southern Luberon.
This is not a villa with a shared pool. This is a place with its own world: a vast private garden of nearly an acre, with a summer kitchen, shaded terraces, a pétanque court, and long views over the vineyards. The pool — shared with the estate — is a short stroll across the lawn.
Inside, three generous suites sleep six in comfort. The open-plan living and dining room has beamed ceilings, an open fire, and the unhurried feel of a house that has been loved for a long time. The kitchen is properly equipped — the kind you actually want to cook in.
Aix-en-Provence is twenty minutes by car. Lourmarin's Friday market is ten. The Wednesday evening aperitif at Val Joanis — live music, food trucks, exceptional wine — is 500 metres on foot.
Coeur de Val Jo is available for weekly stays throughout the year. It suits those who know exactly what they want from Provence: space, quiet, good wine, and the right company.
The Living Room
At over 70 m², the open-plan living and dining room comfortably accommodates all six guests — and a few extra around the table if the evening calls for it. The room has a television and high-speed WiFi throughout.
A fireplace makes it the natural gathering point in spring and autumn, while air conditioning keeps things civilised during the warmer months.
Suite 2
This suite has an undeniable charm of its own — the kind that is easier to feel than to describe. It features a double bed, an en-suite bathroom with WC, and air conditioning for the warmer months.
Suite 3
This charming suite overlooks the private garden and features two single beds that can be combined into a double on request. It has an en-suite shower room and a separate WC. A ceiling fan keeps the room pleasantly cool during summer evenings.
Suite 1
This beautifully appointed suite looks out over the vineyards — one of those views that makes you linger over your morning coffee longer than planned. It features a double bed, an en-suite bathroom with bathtub, and a separate WC. Air conditioning ensures a comfortable night's sleep through the Provençal summer.
Bathroom No. 1
The en-suite bathroom for Suite 1 features a full-sized bathtub and washbasin. A separate WC is located just next door.
Bathroom No. 2
This private bathroom serves Suite 2 and features a full-sized bathtub, washbasin and WC.
Bathroom No. 3
This private bathroom serves Suite 3 and features a walk-in shower and washbasin. A separate WC is also located within the suite.
The Terrace
Accessible from the corridor near the kitchen, this terrace is where mornings begin and evenings linger. The view over the vineyards and surrounding countryside is quite simply exceptional — the kind that makes breakfast last until noon and aperitifs until the stars appear.
It is equipped with a water point, a parasol, two tables and six chairs — everything you need, and nothing you don't.
The Kitchen
Spacious, warm and properly equipped — the kind of kitchen you actually want to cook in. It features a large American-style fridge-freezer, a dishwasher, a Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, and an generous supply of quality cookware and tableware.
Everything you need for a long Provençal lunch that somehow becomes dinner.
For cooking, both gas hobs and a ceramic hob are available, along with an electric oven — catering to every preference and every recipe.
The Pool
A generous 15 x 15 metre pool — one of the largest you will find in the region — is shared among the six residences of the bastide and fully secured. Sun loungers, parasols and an outdoor shower are available throughout the season.
The Private Glorious Garden
If Coeur de Val Jo has a secret, this is it.
The private garden — for the exclusive use of our guests — stretches across 3,500 m² of terraced grounds (restanques), fully equipped with electricity and fed by a private borehole. It is, quite simply, a world of its own.
A vast lawn shaded by mature trees provides the perfect setting for long lunches with friends — the kind that require no particular occasion. A fully equipped summer kitchen in the garden lodge features electric hobs, a fridge and a plancha grill, making alfresco cooking as effortless as it should be in Provence.
Elsewhere in the garden: a stone fountain, a full-sized pétanque court, a bucolic terrace for evening drinks, and a kitchen garden that changes with the seasons.
This is not an amenity. It is the reason to come.
The Fountain
A small stone fountain with resident goldfish — the ideal soundtrack for an afternoon in the hammock, somewhere between awake and asleep, with no particular plans and no reason to make any.
The Kitchen Garden
A dedicated kitchen garden plot, ready to be brought back to life — for those who like the idea of picking their own herbs for dinner.
The Pétanque Court
A full-sized pétanque court, lit for evening play — because in Provence, the best games happen after dinner, with a glass of rosé in hand, and no intention whatsoever of stopping before midnight.
The Shaded Terrace
A generously proportioned shaded terrace, comfortably seating twenty or more — for those evenings when the dinner party takes on a life of its own and nobody quite remembers who was invited in the first place.
The Garden Lodge
Tucked into the garden, this fully equipped summer kitchen has everything needed to take the cooking outside and keep it there — a fridge, sink, running water, electricity, electric hobs and a plancha grill.
Because the best Provençal meals happen under the open sky, and the kitchen inside is really just a backup.
